After a very chaotic week 9 in this college football season, the Heisman Trophy race is up-for-grabs. There's movement in the top three finalist rankings as well as an unexpected candidate picking up steam. With that being said, let's get into it.
1. Ashton Jeanty
An off-day for the Boise State RB would still be a career high for most other players. Jeanty had 128 rushing yards on 33 carries and 1 touchdown. He averaged a season-low 3.9 yards per carry against an underrated UNLV defense that ranks 27th versus the run. Even after a subpar (by his own standards) game, Jeanty still holds the top spot in the rankings.
2. Dillon Gabriel
The Oregon Ducks notched another impressive win this weekend, defeating Illinois 38-9 behind the arm of their star QB, Dillion Gabriel. Gabriel, who went for 18-for-26, 291 passing yards and 4 (3 passing, 1 rushing) touchdowns. Gabriel also surpassed Timmy Chang (17,072) for 2nd place on the NCAA’s career passing yards list and now has 17,236. Case Keenum holds the record with 19,217.
3.Kurtis Rourke
It's safe to say that the Indiana Hoosiers are the surprise of the college football season, and it's due in part to the stellar play of their senior QB Kurtis Rourke. Rourke, who currently leads the nation in QBR, has led his #13 Hoosiers to an 8-0 record.
